President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians to dismiss rumours of violence and unrest and participate in defining the future of the nation by exercising their civic duties in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
In a nationwide Broadcast on Friday morning, the President who described elections as the cornerstone of representative governance said It is only upon the freely expressed will of the people that government can truly dedicate itself to the welfare, rights and interests of the citizens.
He urged elegible voters not to allow anyone to discourage them from exercising their rights during the elections assuring the people of an atmosphere of openness and peace, devoid of fear from threat or intimidation.
President Buhari also assured International and domestic monitors and observers of their safety and freedom of movement as he equally commended domestic monitors and observers for their contributions to Nigeria’s democracy.
Commending Nigerians for keeping the Peace during this period of electioneering, the President wants citizens to cast aside doubt and have faith that INEC will rise to the occasion of performing its responsibility.
Nigeria will vote on Saturday February 23, 2019 in a rescheduled Presidential and Parliamentary Elections
